    The Federal Security Service (FSB) failed to detain a resident of the village of Surkhakhi in Nazran district of Ingushetia after residents of the village intervened. A source in Ingush law enforcement told Interfax on Wednesday that the incident occurred around noon on Wednesday when a group of FSB officers arrived at Surkhakhi and tried to detain a local resident whose brother was suspected of involvement in several attacks on army servicemen and had been killed in a sweep earlier. "Several dozen local residents gathered in the house at the time of the detention and blocked the road for an armed convoy leaving the village and demanded the release of the resident," the source said.
