The Islamic High Council of Chechnya sent invitations to 73 countries
to take part in the international forum “Islam - religion of
peace and creation”. Spiritual and secular leaders of various
confessions from about 30 countries of Europe, Middle East, Asia,
and the United States, Canada have already accepted invitations to
attend the forum, chairman of the forum organizing committee Khusein
Akhmadov said. It is planned to set up an international center on
studies of globalization problems in religion and politics and make
the forum regular.

Any operations in Ingushetia can be carried out by law enforcement
bodies of neighbouring republics only upon an agreement with Magas,
Yuriy Turygin, the prosecutor of Ingushetia, told Interfax. He sad
that the situation in Ingushetia is under control of law enforcement
agencies and an investigation is being carried out in connection with
a number of recent crimes that have provoked public outrage.

The number of terrorist attacks and attacks against law-enforcement
agencies in Dagestan has decreased significantly in recent times,
the republic's president, Mukhu Aliyev, said. "The main goal
of these criminals is to weaken our operational and investigative
staff and influence its morale and authority. But these illegal elements
will not succeed. It is no exaggeration to say that brave and courageous
people work in our law-enforcement agencies. They are repelling criminals
and terrorists, but in doing so they often become targets for the
enemies of the state," Aliyev said.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov on Thursday ordered the heads of
republican law enforcement structures and representatives of Russian
federal agencies stationed in Chechnya to work out anti-terrorist

Chechen public organizations appealed to the Russian Prosecutor General's
Office on Wednesday, asking it to enquire into the activities of the
military prosecutors of the Joint Grouping of Troops in North Caucasus.
The appeal distributed in Grozny asks "to resolve whether the
military prosecutor, Maxim Toporikov, is fit for his office."
"Dozens of criminal cases over the abductions of citizens bearing
fundamental data, armored vehicles information are not being investigated,"
the appeal says. The meeting was attended by Chechen Ombudsman Nurdi
Nukhazhiyev, members of the Chechen Public Chamber, the Chechen Coordination
Council of public organizations and unions, and human rights organizations.

The Chechen Ministry of the Interior reported on August 1 that a known
guerilla, who had been in search for numerous crimes in Chechnya and
Ingushetia, was killed after he refused to stop the car at a check-point.
It turned out, however, that the person, Magomed Barkinkhoev, had
actually been abducted on July 27 by unknown armed people on his way
home after a Friday prayer and was reported missing by his relatives
on the same day.

The Ingush Minister of the Interior Musa Medov is convinced that certain
forces outside the republic are aggravating situation in Ingushetia.
“If the cause of the problems were inside of the republic, we
