A recent poll conducted by the Levada Center found that a majority of Russians (59%) feel that the situation in the North Caucasus is still intense, while 17% say it is more peaceful and only 2% believe the region is safe. Similarly,56% of Russians believe the trend in the region for the past year has not changed, while 17% is sure it has improved and 12% assert the situation has worsened.
